“The Wall of Fame”

Here’s a new section we’re going to start doing about great collections that have passed through the store. Sort of like our wall at the shop with pricier and rarer stuff, this is going to be a photo record of favorites. I’ve got buckets worth of pictures and I figure hey, what do people like doing best? Looking at records! Warning: most of these records have been sold or filed… this is not a sale post. Just some of the finer thangs.

Hi Adam – that picture is from over a year ago, and every item in it is long gone.

    Thanks, Jonny

Looks like a really expensive place, I dont see how places like this can make it in this age.

I dont even want to know what you big city knuckleheadz are charging for this stuff. Im sure you use ebay as your price guide. Too bad the entire world is bidding all that stuff up, so the price is not acurate. This is just silly record masturbation…

Hmmm well the above two comments are from the same poster so I’ll answer both at once:

As far as making it “in this age” I think we do OK. Collectors pay good money for rare records, and this isn’t a new thing. I try to price records fairly based on their rarity, quality, condition, and the demand for them. Sometimes we’re high, sometimes we’re low, sometimes we’re just right. It all comes out in the wash.

Re: ebay, I’m not sure how “the entire world… bidding all that stuff up” makes the price inaccurate. If a record is in high demand, it will sell for more money than if it’s a record that nobody wants. Ebay is just one site, it’s not the be-all and end-all of a price and certainly doesn’t always carry over to a brick and mortar store. Sometimes I sell records for less than what ebay might dictate, sometimes for more. At the end of the day, I am trying to sell the record for what I think is the right price in my shop, not on the internet.

Let it also be mentioned that we have a huge selection of $2 records in the shop, so there really is something for every price point.

Thanks for your comments, I can only hope they are sincere.
